Is More Always Better?

The Sunday, July 8th New York Times' Sunday Review Section includes an article titled "Don't Indulge.  Be Happy" ( see link: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/08/opinion/sunday/dont-indulge-be-happy.html?_r=1&ref=opinion) which addresses the issue of our obsession with abundance in our culture.  After reading the article and commenting on the blog, be ready to discuss your views in class for extra credit points.

  1. W/ technology constantly changing & things being imported from all over the world, we've become materialistic. Advertisement makes us believe that having it all makes us happy. We are also lazy. For ex.,we buy fast food rather than cook @ home. Not only are we spending more $ but it is unhealthy. Keeping up w/ the latest trends makes us selfish & competitive.

  2. When it comes to money, More is always better. You need to eat, pay bills and buy nice things.
Living pay to pay check is stressful. That's why I'm going to school to get an high paying job to be able to do the finest things in life. Being able to travel, shop and live comfortable would make me happy. However I do not want to get to greedy because "More Money more problems.
