  1. From this article, I have been able to discern that the author has discovered a recent proliferation in the amount of Hispanic culture being blended into the American culture. Events like fans rivalling the NBA Playoff in views the FIFA World Cup and the increase of customers purchasing mojitos and Mexican beer have shown a decisive shift from the main forms of entertainment and alcoholic beverage. Not only have Hispanics rubbed off on Americans, but the English language has become a dominate force on the Hispanic family as more Hispanic families neglect their native tongues for the American tongue. This does not mean, however, that Hispanics completely ditch the Hispanic culture as they continue to eat foods and listen to music of their cultures.

I find that the author is optimistic for the upcoming generations and that the mixing of these cultures in America are ultimately beneficial.

Personally, I find that the author brought up a great point that even though Hispanics, such as myself, are spreading our culture far and wide, we are ultimately sacrificing our native tongue, a monumental advantage in everyday life, for the English language.

  4. I find the article written by Helen Aguirre Ferre a little bit sensationalistic. The statement that Americans are being seduced by the fever of soccer should be questioned because I can see the hands of the money driven US market media. Are Americans being seduced by the fever of soccer or is the market media with all of its advertisement making it so irresistible for Americans not to like it? Is the market using this opportunity to make big bucks now and who knows in the future?
Now, I find the observations made about the non hispanic immigrant families to be accurate. I believe that there is a price to be paid in order to integrate oneself into another culture. In this case, the lost of the parents' native tongue seems to be the case. However, among hispanic families even though that was not the case, now it appears to be.
The fact that hispanic population is growing in numbers day by day, the idea that Americans and Latins were going to end up assimilating each other was nothing but a matter of time. Here once more, one can see the price to be paid. Certain things pertaining to one's culture have to go such as Latin stores, ways of doing things and of course the language. But other things must stay such as the food and the music with a twist of "americanismo" of course.
And all of what is mentioned has to happen because the force of the money driven market is behind.
